June 9, 2010 brought immense rains and flooding to Landa Park. The grounds of the park were devastated and structures, including the wading pool bridge, were damaged. Volunteers and staff quickly got to work removing debris and the park was re-opened within one week.
During the cleanup, a donation of $10,000 was made to the New Braunfels Parks Foundation by NewQuest Properties to help with repairs to the park. The Parks Foundation voted to use this money to pay for handrails on the Wading Pool Bridge which was removed due to structural damage.
The new handrails, made by a local artist, are reminiscent of the cedar railings that were common in Landa Park in the early 1900's. The new rails are structurally significant and able to withstand high water.
